Sports Trainers

YOUR ROLE:

Your participation as a sports trainer is PARAMOUNT to the success of this project!

You will report:

  1. All injuries which occur during trainings or games which result in a player missing a match or being unable to return to the field of play for that match.
  2. All head injuries which occur during trainings or games, regardless of whether they leave the field or miss a game

WHAT IS INVOLVED FOR YOU AS A SPORTS TRAINER?

Training requirements

  • Attend an online information and training session (~1.5 hours) about the study in March/April 2021.
  • Re-training/ updated information session in March/April 2022 (~1.5 hours)

Injury Recording

  • On game day during the season you will record all injuries which result in a player missing a match or being unable to return to the field of play for that match. You will also record all head injuries which occur during trainings or games, regardless of whether they leave the field or miss a game.
  • Every week, you will use the Smartabase® App on your phone or a web browser to record the injuries. This should only take ~10 minutes.
  • You will record the player’s name, date of injury and select the location of injury by highlighting the area on a body chart.
  • Each injury needs to be reported separately, so please record more than one injury per player per game if applicable for multiple injuries.
  • You will receive weekly text message and email reminders to complete this injury report form. All player injury data will be de-identified for analysis and reporting of the study findings

Thank you for participating in the research study. If you have any questions please contact Christian Bonnello at c.bonello@latrobe.edu.au.
